Hey guys! There have been BIG changes to how you can shop my looks and I wanted to dive deeper into what happened, why, and some easy solutions. I’m sure y’all have already heard, but changes to Instagram & Facebook’s API security has removed the technology that allowed you to receive outfit detail emails from liking our photos on Instagram. A lot of bloggers basically got their worlds rocked. I LOVE sharing my daily looks with y’all and the commission I make through your purchases allows me to continue creating fresh content. If you didn’t know, when you make a purchase through one of my links, I earn a small commission; basically like a personal shopper. It doesn’t affect the purchase price for you at all, but it means the world to me 🙂 Plus, I am always on the hunt for the best deals for you, so hopefully I’m helping you save in the process!
So Why Did This Happen?
If you have been watching the national news, you have likely heard about the PR nightmare that Facebook is in the midst of thanks to Cambridge Analytica mining the date of 87 million users. Because of this, Facebook has opted to restrict data access in order to protect people’s information on their platform. This restriction put an immediate end to the like-based triggering of emails. Now, Instagram likes do nothing but tell us that you’re loving our content.
How Do I Shop Now?
If you didn’t use LikeToKnow.it emails to receive outfit details, then you won’t notice a change at all. But after getting some stats from my RewardStyle rep, it looks like about 35% of y’all preferred to shop that way. Luckily, RewardStyle has been preparing for this change and there are still a TON of easy ways to shop your favorite bloggers’ looks! The most obvious is to come to my blog 🙂 You can see in the sidebar, at the top of the homepage, across the bottom of the site, and even on the SHOP page, ALL of my recent Instagram posts are featured and these are already enabled with all of my links. You don’t even need to be signed up for LikeToKnow.it. Simply click on the photo to get all the outfit details!
The link in my Instagram bio will ALWAYS take you directly to the LikeToKnow.it-enabled feed of my photos. So if you come across something you love while you’re scrolling away, just click on the link in my bio for alllll my outfit details. It’s honestly faster and easier than waiting for the emails!
The good news is that emails aren’t completely gone. If you screenshot a photo on Instagram, you will still get an email with all of the outfit details. I know what you’re thinking… who wants a ton of screenshots of strangers clogging up their phone? Well, LikeToKnow.it thought of this. In your LikeToKnow.it app, there is an option to batch delete all of the screenshots! Genius!
Speaking of, the final way to shop my photos is by downloading the free LikeToKnow.it app and following me in it. The app is laid out similarly to Instagram only you get details immediately instead of waiting for an email. Win-win! You can check out my profile HERE.
