Happy Thursday, y’all! Hopefully your shopping is done and you’re looking forward to the long weekend and spending time with your loved ones. Now that I’m married, Christmas is a bit hectic because we have two families to celebrate with. But it’s also amazing because there is double the love! My mother taught me to never show up to a party empty handed, but unfortunately she never taught me how to bake so I wanted to share a quick and easy recipe that is great for those of us who are baking-challenged or if you want a fun treat to make with kids. Scroll to the bottom for ingredients and recipe. Happy Holidays, loves!
1(16oz) bag mini marshmallows
1(11oz) box Fruity Pebbles cereal (about 7 cups)
Cookie Icing, preferably with a small tip
Pecan Log slices for the tree stumps
Spray a 13×9-inch baking or casserole dish with baking spray or grease with butter.
In a large non-stick stock pot at medium heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted.
Remove melted marshmallows from heat. Add Fruity Pebbles cereal and stir/fold until the melted marshmallows are evenly distributed amongst the cereal.
Pour the mixture into the casserole dish. Spray the bottom of your measuring cup to evenly flatten the mixture into the dish. Allow to cool and harden for 1-2 hours. (The longer you wait, the easier the treats will maintain their shape when cutting)
Carefully flip the dish and dump the treats onto a buttered piece of parchment paper. Then cut the cereal rectangle in half lengthwise. Then cut off one end at an angle and cut back and forth creating triangles. Place the triangles on parchment or wax paper.
Heat the cookie icing for a few seconds so it reaches your desired consistency. Then draw zig zag lines over the trees. Immediately add sprinkles and allow icing to harden.
Attach the pecan log slices with either a dab of the icing or with half of a toothpick.
With the first day of Winter a mere four days away, I have already transitioned my nighttime skincare routine to a more extensive and moisturizing one in order to prepare. As a long-time sufferer of dry skin and psoriasis, Winter weather can wreak havoc on me. And with one Winter storm down and a chilly season predicted, I have to really up my skincare routine to counteract the elements. So today I wanted to share the products that are keeping me hydrated while giving me bright, breakout-free skin.
Thank you to Banila Co for sponsoring this post. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
I begin my skincare routine by removing my makeup and cleansing my skin with Banila Co’s Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. This product is my first foray into K-Beauty and I’m hooked! Regular cleansers tend to strip my skin of its oils causing it to overproduce and give me breakouts. You know that tight skin feeling you get after washing your face? Ya, you don’t get that with this nourishing cleanser. Clean It Zero is a balm packed with ginseng berry and rooibos leaf that removes makeup, dirt, and dead skin cells (ew) while nourishing your skin and maintaining its pH balance. This cleansing balm comes in four formulations – one for every skin type – but I use the Nourishing version for dry skin.
If I see my face starting to get flaky in certain areas, once to twice a week I will do additional exfoliation with Tula’s Dual-Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pads. These pads are essentially a mini facial for a fraction of the cost. Packed with probiotics and witch hazel, you first rub the smooth side all over your face to dispense the serum. Then flip to the textured side to exfoliate your skin. They’ll leave your skin bright and smooth!
This is my favorite trick for the Winter months! I love a good, hot bath, especially when it’s chilly outside, but that warm water only facilitates in drying my skin out. So while I am running the water, I will spritz in an oil to moisturize my skin while bathing. My favorite oils are from Loccitane because they are packed with great ingredients and smell like the spa, but any body oil will do! A little goes a long way, but after only seconds in the water and you can already feel the additional moisture in your skin. Just be careful when standing because it can get a little slippery!
In the Winter months, I double up on my serums to really pack an extra punch of moisture. If you’re not using a serum in addition to your moisturizer, let’s chat. Moisturizer is formulated to hydrate the skin and lock that moisture in. Serums, on the other hand, penetrate the top layer of your skin and address damage at a cellular level. So, having both in your routine is vital. I massage 4-5 drops of Dermalogica’s Overnight Repair Serum onto my face and not only does it smell calming and amazing, but the organ and rose oils help to smooth fine lines and brighten my skin.
Since I am a little extra, I typically combine the Overnight Repair Serum with Dermalogica’s other miracle worker, the Multivitamin Serum to infuse my skin with vitamins A, C, and E. These work together to fight signs of aging and neutralize any hyperpigmentation.
For moisturizer, I have recently made the switch to Dermalogica’s Skin Smoothing Cream. When it comes to chilly Winter weather, be sure to look for products that contain hyaluronic acid. It’s the shit. Your body produces hyaluronic acid naturally, but as you age, these supplies deplete. Using products that contain it help your cells retain moisture and plump your skin. What’s unique about this moisturizer is that it features a state-of-the-art hyaluronic acid complex that works on a molecular level to help reduce Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and infuse skin with 48 hours of vital moisture.
My final step before going to sleep is to slather my hands with Loccitane’s Hand Cream. My hands are one of the driest parts of my body and the area that shows age the fastest! The best part about this hand cream is that it soaks in quickly so you don’t feel greasy – I HATE that feeling! And the scent is unisex so both you and your partner can enjoy it. I keep this miracle worker in my nightstand so I can always have it on hand.
I hope y’all enjoyed this post! If there are any products you swear by, leave them in the comments below!
I popped over to Trina Turk the other day to select an outfit for New Year’s Eve. I was a kid in a candy shop with all of the selection! The colors and prints were seriously stunning and it didn’t hurt that they offered us a glass of champagne to sip on while we browsed. So I wanted to share everything that I tried on and you can check my Instagram post for what I took home with me.
I pulled a ton of looks to try and I bet you can sense a trend… bright colors and loud prints! If you can’t go big around the holidays, when can you?! The Trina Turk boutique is worth checking out if only to admire the interior design. It’s aesthetic matches the brand’s designs and is a color lover’s dream space.
The cut and the fit of the Spumante Dress are so flattering! And y’all know that I love a good ruffle hem 🙂 All I would do to jazz this look up a bit is add a belt and.a leopard clutch and I’d be good to go for any holiday party.
