Last weekend, I met my Aunt and Grandpa at Daveste Vineyards in Troutman, N.C. and had such a lovely time that I wanted to bring Kevin back this weekend. Well, I was running late (after purchasing this new clutch from Nordstrom) and when we made the turn down the vineyard’s gravel road, we were met with a wedding.

We parked and snuck out to the furthest rows of vines to snap some pics but on our way out we had to dive back into the rows to avoid the Bride and Groom taking their own photographs! I hope we were covert enough to go unnoticed!

Regardless, my hopes of sampling the local wine while relaxing in rocking chairs were dashed. Hopefully next time we visit, we can enjoy the scenery instead of wedding crashing!

If you know me, you know I have an unhealthy obsession with horror flicks. And not just any horror flicks, slasher movies. But ever since the Saw franchise came to a close, I have had to settle with a little less gore.

That being said, I still appreciate a good campy movie, so Kevin and I went to see You’re Next tonight. Though the concept was familiar, I would still recommend it. But nothing as of late has compared to The Conjuring. Kevin put it best in this instagram.

Next on my list is Insidious 2. And if I’ve put you in the mood for a good scary movie now, grab some popcorn and check out my top 10:

  1. The Fourth Kind (took the Paranormal Activity found-footage concept but made it actually scary)
  2. The Descent (touches on a wide range of fears)
  3. Any Saw movie (except for the 3D one)
  4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (classic)
  5. Cabin Fever (Rider Strong, that is all)
  6. House of 1,000 Corpses (fell asleep with this on in the background and had the worst nightmares)
  7. The Strangers (loosely based on Helter Skelter)
  8. Wolf Creek (a bit screwed up)
  9. The Crazies (not at all what I was expecting)
  10. The Conjuring (yep, terrifying)

My Go-To Pieces

Tan

Do you have one of those live-in-it outfits? This is it for me. Well, really a compilation of my favorite go-to pieces.

I’d been searching all summer for the perfect worn in jean shorts and I found them (surprisingly) at American Eagle. I hadn’t thought to go in that store since high school, but all of their denim fits me well. It hasn’t begun to cool down in North Carolina yet, but when it does, these should still pair well with black tights and boots.

The white tank is from Forever 21 and I wear it with everything from shorts to maxi skirts. I struggle finding a slouchy tank that is long enough for my torso, but not low enough that I need a bandeau. When I found this one (for $4.80), I scopped it up in a number of colors.

Anyone who knows me knows I having been obsessing over the perfect gold and silver watch to tie all of my metals together, and Michael Kors designed the perfect one. I hated having to swap my purse and shoes to match the jewelry I was wearing and this watch has made everything finally match.

I feel the same way about this sweater. I needed a good neutral sweater to keep in my bag because I’m cold about 90% of the time and this one goes with everything from white to brown to black. I found this one where I find most of my staples, H&M.

What is your favorite go-to piece in your closet?
