TGIF, loves! I know it’s a littleeee soon to be outfit planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it can’t hurt to think ahead (Guilty! See this look). Especially since so many of the most popular pieces will be sold out by then! I picked up this sweater out shopping the other day and was thrilled to find out it was under $50 after I had been eyeing a pricier version. I am wearing a size small in it and the length is just perfect for skirt tucking, if you know what I mean – not too long that you’ve stuffing fabric down your skirt making the outfit bulky and not too short that your belly show when you lift your arms.
Now, I am off to get my highlights filled in and my extensions moved up so I don’t look like Shakira circa 2006 anymore! Jeremy and I are heading to Harrah’s Cherokee to see Gary Allan tonight and then have a Halloween party tomorrow night. And a quick P.S. for my horror movie buffs – we saw the new SAW movie, Jigsaw, last night and it was good! Not quite as gorey as the originals, so if you’re squeamish you’ll be able to make it through this one 😉
I am so excited to chat about one of my favorite fall trends – leopard booties. We know that leopard is ALWAYS a neutral but instead of hints of it here and there like in seasons past, we’re going BIG with it this fall. I’m talking a full bootie of this fabulous print! The easiest way to style leopard booties for fall is by pairing them with faux leather leggings and an oversized sweater. Clean and simple pieces make the leopard print really pop, but don’t be afraid to mix in stripes, plaid, or herringbone 😉 I usually opt for a neutral sweater so the booties are the star of the show, but a red slouchy sweater would look fab, as well!
When it comes to selecting a shaft height for your booties, my rule of thumb is this: if you have thin legs, go for a taller shaft that comes up over your ankle and if you have athletic calves (like myself) go for a shorter, true bootie. These Sam Edelman booties are hands down, the best I have found! The block heel and low shaft makes them comfortable to wear all night long and the price isn’t too shabby either. Would you believe I found these at Nordstrom Rack?!
Let me be clear, though – not all leopard is created equal. There’s a whole lot of tacky out there in the world, which is why I have rounded up my favorite patterns, styles, and heights below!
It’s hard to believe Halloween is less than a week away! I am looking forward to it, but also so sad that soon trips to haunted houses, pumpkin patches, and cider mills will be behind us and we’ll be gearing up for the holidays. Jeremy and I decided to have a get together in a pinch and luckily Basic Invite had our backs.
