Personalized, Affordable Gifts for the New Year

We all have that family member who is impossible to shop for. It could be the husband who has everything, the mom who refuses to hint at what she needs, or the dad who just buys what he wants without waiting for holidays. I personally have so many family birthdays in the month of January – my mom, niece, husband, and father-in-law – so it’s forced me to get creative.

With Jeremy’s birthday fast approaching, I surprised him early with these coffee mugs from Snapfish. Snapfish is an online photo printing site featuring budget-friendly photo gifts and home decor that look fantastic. Since Jeremy and I’ve had a long-time running joke about who our dog’s favorite parent is (it’s obviously me), I thought it would be fun and cheeky to gift him these unique presents.

I was initially intimidated about the design process, but I couldn’t believe how easy and fast it was. You select the card, calendar, mug, or home decor item you want to personalize and then upload your images from Facebook, Instagram, Google Photos and more. I pulled photos straight from my computer, dove into the project space and added text and embellishments. In under five minutes, I had created my mugs and approved the design!

While I was on Snapfish designing Jeremy’s gift, I may have snuck in a little something for myself too! I needed a desk calendar for the new year and Snapfish has endless under $25 options. I opted for the brand spankin’ new Wood Block Desk Calendar and added a personal photo and text for each month. I loved the results and apparently I’m not alone…

True story – Jeremy’s bestie was over recently and saw my desk calendar. He got married a couple months ago and his wife works at a salon and needed a wall calendar for her room. He immediately hopped on Snapfish and began uploading their wedding photos to create a special gift for her. For minimal cost and effort, he was able to create something that she could cherish all year long!

Snapfish was sweet enough to offer a 40% off discount code for my readers which makes THESE MUGS only $9 and THIS DESK CALENDAR under $15! Simply use code CHEERS40OFF HERE to begin creating your perfect gifts.

Thank you to Snapfish for sponsoring this post. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

9 Basics on MAJOR Post-Christmas Sale

SHOP THE POST:

Happy New Year, dolls! I took the last week off so I apologize for being MIA. Now that we’re married, Jeremy and I have quite a few places throughout the Southeast to be for the holidays and while there is more family to love, it gets a little tricky to juggle. But regardless, I hope y’all had such a wonderful Christmas!

If you’re like me, your Christmas money is burning a hole in your pocket. Luckily, these sales won’t quit. But I want to totally encourage y’all to use these steep discounts to invest in basics that will last you year after year. So I rounded up some of my every day favorites as well as some items I scored!

Zella High Waist Midi Leggings: Only $26 | Available in all sizes

Let’s start with my favorite recent purchase and one of the cheapest on the list. I have always worn leggings from Old Navy, but unfortunately they just don’t hold up for that long. After hearing all the hype about Zella leggings, I pulled the trigger and spent $60 on a pair. THEN… I saw that Z by Zella leggings were available for over half off that price so I decided to compare the two. Honestly y’all, I prefer the cheaper version! Yippee! The length hits at the exact right spot for my 5’4 frame and they really suck everything in but with a ton of stretch and comfort. I ordered the small and they fit great.

J.Crew Factory Vail Parka: Over 50% off

I have had my eye on this gorgeous coat for years and finally scooped it up about a month ago after trying it on in stores and realizing how beautiful it is on. For a large Winter coat that really keeps me warm, it is surprisingly flattering. For size reference, I wear a size US4 in it.

Tory Burch Miller Sandals: 40% off

I already own these sandals in tan and black (which I purchased for full price *rolls eyes*) so I  can’t justify purchasing another pair, but one of the number one questions I receive is where to get Tory Burch Miller Sandals on sale. They very rarely drop the price on these super popular sandals but when they do, it’s usually on a not-so-wearable color. Luckily, the neutral tortoise print is now 40% off making this the perfect time to invest!

Sam Edelman Caprice Knee-Hight Boots: 33% off

Along with what seemed like every blogger, I purchased these gorgeous boots during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and wore them throughout the Fall and into the Winter. The light tan color was exactly what my closet was missing. Now they are marked down even more so if you missed out on them during the Sale, it’s the perfect time to pull the trigger.

Frost-Free Puffer Jacket: Under $30

Throughout the Winter, I gravitate toward bold, red hues. But girlfriend has gotta stay warm too! So I took full opportunity of these sales to score this gorgeous red puffer jacket for only $27. The run a tad bit large and I purchased the size small.

Striped Layering T-Shirt: Only $7.60

I honestly own multiple of these shirts in stripes, white, black, etc. They wash well and hold up for years which is crazy for the price of less than eight bucks. These are the t-shirts you see everyone layering under vests and sweaters because the tunic length pairs so well. These do run oversized, though, so be sure to size down. I wear a size small.

Blank NYC Suede Moto Jacket: 40% off

The perfect piece to elevate any of your Fall and Winter looks, you honestly need this chic (GENUINE SUEDE) jacket. The tan is my favorite, but the gray version is GORG too!

Ugg Daelynn Boots: 35% off

No one can call Uggs ugly now that they launched adorable versions that are topped with a bow. I, personally, always wear my classic tall Ugg Boots rolled over exposing the shearling liner inside. These achieve that same look and more AND are 35% off. These are selling out fast though! I originally had my eye on the shorter, under $100 version but unfortunately they are gone so I would scoop these up while you still can.

Goodnight Macaroon Over-the-Knee Boots: 30% off

I talk about these boots ALL. THE. TIME. And that’s honestly because they’re THAT GOOD. They stay up great without being too tight and the low heel makes them comfortable for all day wear. Be sure to size up one full size. I am a size 8.5 and the 40 fits great.

Fruity Pebbles Christmas Tree Treats

Happy Thursday, y’all! Hopefully your shopping is done and you’re looking forward to the long weekend and spending time with your loved ones. Now that I’m married, Christmas is a bit hectic because we have two families to celebrate with. But it’s also amazing because there is double the love! My mother taught me to never show up to a party empty handed, but unfortunately she never taught me how to bake so I wanted to share a quick and easy recipe that is great for those of us who are baking-challenged or if you want a fun treat to make with kids. Scroll to the bottom for ingredients and recipe. Happy Holidays, loves!

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 1 (16oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 1 (11oz) box Fruity Pebbles cereal (about 7 cups)
  • Cookie Icing, preferably with a small tip
  • Multicolored Sprinkles
  • Pecan Log slices for the tree stumps

Instructions

  1. Spray a 13×9-inch baking or casserole dish with baking spray or grease with butter.
  2. In a large non-stick stock pot at medium heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted.
  3. Remove melted marshmallows from heat. Add Fruity Pebbles cereal and stir/fold until the melted marshmallows are evenly distributed amongst the cereal.
  4. Pour the mixture into the casserole dish. Spray the bottom of your measuring cup to evenly flatten the mixture into the dish. Allow to cool and harden for 1-2 hours. (The longer you wait, the easier the treats will maintain their shape when cutting)
  5. Carefully flip the dish and dump the treats onto a buttered piece of parchment paper. Then cut the cereal rectangle in half lengthwise. Then cut off one end at an angle and cut back and forth creating triangles. Place the triangles on parchment or wax paper.
  6. Heat the cookie icing for a few seconds so it reaches your desired consistency. Then draw zig zag lines over the trees. Immediately add sprinkles and allow icing to harden.
  7. Attach the pecan log slices with either a dab of the icing or with half of a toothpick.
