SHOP THE POST:
One of the most common things y’all reach out about is regarding my skincare. Which is surprising and flattering because I have a host of hereditary issues that I work daily to fight, including psoriasis and cystic acne. So to say that I have combination skin would be quite an understatement. For years my only skincare was a bar of soap, but as I transition into my thirties things like hormones, stress, and age have me requiring a few more steps. Luckily, I have settled into a morning skincare routine that is working for me and I thought I would share it with y’all!
Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant: First up is deodorant, obviously. You can’t leave the house without it! Now that I’m blogging full time, none of my days look the same. Some days I’m shooting multiple outfits in this unrelenting Summer heat, other days I’m hunched over my computer all day, and others I’m at events or meetings. Luckily, I can use Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid just once for all-day strong wetness protection. Clinical Strength is basically the big girl pants of the deodorant category and offers faster, extra effective protection from unexpected sweat. I used to keep a spare deodorant in my purse or car for emergencies but thanks to Clinical Strength, there is no need for emergency applications! It’s available at Walgreens!
Tula Purifying Face Cleanser: I’m sure y’all have heard a ton about Tula products from every blogger out there. Because of this, I was skeptical. Are these girls just shilling product or does it really work? But after trying seemingly ever product on the market, Tula Purifying Face Cleanser is honestly worth the hype. It cleanses my face without stripping it of moisture, which is key for me in preventing future breakouts. This is the only face wash I used in the month leading up to my wedding to be assured of clear skin on the big day.
Exuviance Performance Peel AP25: After cleansing my face, I use the two-step wonder that is Exuviance’s Performance Peel. It is essentially the same thing as getting a face peel without the hassle of visiting an aesthetician. This is a step I didn’t realize I NEEDED until giving the product a go for a month. This benefits are endless: smaller pores, smoother, brighter skin, fine lines diminished, smoother texture, and just overall suppler skin.
Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum: Another step I was lacking was using a serum. If you’re curious why you need both a serum and a moisturizer, the purpose of serums is to deliver active product deeper beneath the skin while a moisturizer provides a hydrating seal between your skin in the environment. Serums don’t moisturize, they penetrate your skin to repair it from within. So I would encourage you to always seal your serum (and skin) with moisturizer after. As it’s name suggests, Dermalogica’s Biolumin-C Serum uses high performance Vitamin C to brighten and firm skin as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream: I am a moisturizer junkie and as a blogger, I’m lucky to have the opportunity to test a number of different high end face products. For years, I relied on light moisturizers because thick, rich creams tend to break me out. But Charlotte Tilbury has somehow made it work! It is so thick and a little goes a long way, so I really take my time working this into my skin.
Loccitane Shea Butter Hand Cream: This product is a bit of a splurge, but feels so luxurious and when I apply it every morning and night, makes a huge difference in my fine lines and dry skin. Bonus: it looks chic on your bathroom counter or nightstand. And I’m not alone, one of these hand creams is sold every three seconds and the reviews speak for themselves!
This whole process takes me about 15 minutes to complete and I can tell a huge difference in how my makeup applies. I even do a similar routine each night before bed and am so pleasantly surprised by how much more luminous and supple my skin looks in the morning. But if y’all have a ride-or-die product that you love, share it in the comments below. I am always looking for the latest and greatest!
