Show of hands… who has struggled their whole adulthood with finding a good pair of jeans? I know I’m not alone in this! I love a good pair of distressed denim, but with so many options at various price points, it’s difficult to know what’s best. But after trying on countless pairs, I thought I’d save y’all the same stress and share my favorite distressed denim at high, low, and medium cost.
High: AG The Legging Ankle Jeans ($225)
I had seen these on so many bloggers before pulling the trigger on them and there’s a reason for it… they’re beyond comfy and run true to size. I have really short legs, so they don’t necessarily qualify as ankle jeans on me, but they look great cuffed! I tend to favor stretchy, soft denim to classic denim and these are hands-down the softest I own.
Medium: TopShop Moto “Leigh” Ripped Skinny Jeans $70
These were my first-ever distressed denim purchase about a year and half ago and after all this time, they haven’t stretched out or lost their color. Regardless, when it comes to washing all denim, be sure to turn the jeans inside out and hang to dry.
Unlike the other two pairs, these are high-rise jeans which work great for sucking in your stomach with tighter-fitting blouses. Plus, they come in black and white too!
TopShop has some wonky sizing, so be sure to check the fit guide before ordering. I am a 27 in jeans and ordered a 28 in these.
Low: Necessary Clothing Raw Hem Ripped Jeans $39
I was shocked when I saw how low the price tag was for these! Plus Necessary Clothing offers 10% off on your first order when you sign up for their emails. They run true to size and are super stretchy, but like the other pairs, have maintained their shape for over a year now. I thought the raw hem was so unique and for a price like that, I was able to order them in black as well!
So what’s the verdict? It really depends on the outfit! If I am wearing booties, I grab the AG jeans because they cuff well. With boots, I wear the TopShop jeans because of how similar to leggings the fabric is. I feel that these are the most slimming of the three. And with flats, I reach for the Necessary Clothing jeans because of how cute the raw hem looks. Depending on what price range you’re shopping for denim in, you can’t go wrong with any of these three pairs. If y’all have any favorites I haven’t mentioned, be sure to include them in the comments! Thanks 🙂
