Happy New Year! I hope y’all had a fun night celebrating and have a couple days off for recovery time 😉 I am excited to kick off 2017 with a casual look that you can replicate on a budget. When it comes to everyday life in the Fall or Winter, chances are I am wearing my duck boots, Hunter boots, or tennis shoes. These less-dressy looks are my favorite to share on the blog. And while there are a million ways to style duck boots or bean boots, pairing them with jeans and layers is my go to!
I scored these comfy duck boots at Payless for only $25, which is awesome because I can get them dirty and don’t have to worry! I always rock these boots with a pair of camp socks to stay warm and cozy – I scored this two-packat L.L. Bean. I slip the socks over my skinniest skinny jeans and then bundle up on top. I recently wore this exact look (plus a parka) on a chilly fishing trip and stayed warm all day long!
I love getting to share a steal with y’all and these $15 red lace-up heels from Payless are it! I had been looking everywhere for a nice pair of red heels to wear with all of my party outfits throughout the holiday season. Unfortunately they were either too burgundy, too short, or too uncomfortable – talk about a Goldilocks dilemma! When I laced up these pretties, I was shocked how comfortable they are. So comfortable, in fact, that I’m wearing them to a friend’s wedding tomorrow night for New Year’s Eve.
I scored this top and skirtduring Black Friday and both come highly recommended. The skirt is the perfect A-line mini and matches almost every sweater and button down in my closet. Plus, the material is thick and warm, perfect for winter. And I just LOVE the plaid pocket on this button down.
I can’t believe I have lived in North Carolina for six years and have never visited Asheville (or Highlands or the Outer Banks – but who’s counting). Well that all changed a couple weeks ago when Jeremy and I hopped into a 2017 Toyota RAV4 and hit the road to the mountains. Asheville is under an hour away from Spartanburg (where Jeremy lives), but the RAV4 was so fun to drive, it wouldn’t have mattered if it took longer! Seriously, it features Dynamic Cruise Control which senses a car in front of you and slows you down – I can’t believe this technology exists now!
We only had 24 Hours to see everything we wanted to see in Asheville so the trip was a bit of a whirlwind. We arrived and went straight to our hotel, the Omni Grove Park Inn. Talk about stunning! Especially right before Christmas. There were decorated Christmas trees throughout the property, waterfalls, huge fireplaces with rocking chairs in front, as well as a gingerbread house competition. My favorite was the real life gingerbread house in the lobby where you could order hot chocolates.
